Diet therapy for cancer

Yimi (Coix seed) is a commonly used herb and food, it is sweet in flavor and cold in nature, and has the function of inducing diuresis to alleviate edema, strengthening spleen to remove dampness, modern research showed that Yimi (Coix seed) had effective anticancer action.

Home-made eight-treasure gruel
Materials:
Dangshen (Radix codonopsis pilosulae) 15g, Baizhu (Largehead atractylodes rh)15g, Fuling (Poria) 50g, Huai Shanyao (Chinese yam) 50g, Qianshi (Euryale ferox) 50g, Lianzi (Semen nelumbinis) 50, Yimi (Coix seed) 50g, 10 Chinese dates, glutinous rice 100g.
Method:
Remove lotus germ firstly, put the above herbs in a pot, add water and decoct it about 30 min, and then remove the herb residues, add glutinous rice and white sugar, cook the gruel.
Action: reinforce spleen and stomach qi, this gruel is used for the patients after cancer surgery or chemical therapy and radiotherapy manifested as poor appetite.
The cancer patients need nourishment; the tonic herbs like Xiyangshen (Radix panacis quinquefolii), Dongchongxiacao (Cordyceps), Gouqizi (Barbary wolfberry fruit) and Lingzhi (Lucidum) are all suitable for cancer patients. For example, Xiyangshen (Radix panacis quinquefolii) 3g and Dongchongxiacao (Cordyceps) 3g are soaked in water for oral use every day, which can achieve effective results.

Gouqi Jiayu Tang (soup)
Materials:
Jiayu (turtle) 300g, Gouqizi (Barbary wolfberry fruit) 30g, Shudihuang (Chinese foxglove) 15g, Huangqi (Astragalus membranaceus) 10g, and spices.
Method:
Remove the shell, head and claws of the turtle, clear and cut it, wrap the above herbs with gauze, and then put the materials in a cooking ware, boil it with strong fire firstly, then cook it with mild fire, flavour the soup.
Action: reinforce qi and nourish yin. This soup is used for the cancer patients with qi and yin deficiency, WBC decrease and RBC decrease, etc., manifested as dry mouth, fatigue, night sweat and soreness of loins and knees, etc..
