Dr Gang Zhu: trained in conventional medicine and traditional Chinese medicine and also skilled with Chinese herbs and acupressure. £48 for first appointment (45 mins), £38 thereafter (30 mins). At the Life Centre, Edge Street, W8.

Dr Joshua Li: his ability to boost clients' immune systems, thus warding off colds, is a big draw. Works from home in South Harrow (020 8423 1951) or at the Cassidy Health Centre, SW6 (020 7731 2511), £35.

Huw Griffiths: practises "five-element" acupuncture, and has an unerring knack of finding and releasing blocked energies. Complete Care Centre, EC1 (020 7336 0466), £45 an hour.
